THE GAME FORMAT
Team Relay Medley Format – Pickleball Team Tournament
Team Composition
- Each team consists of 9 players.
- Teams must nominate their player sequence before the start of each tie.
- Once the sequence is locked, no substitutions or resequencing are allowed during that tie.
- Every player must feature at least once before the sequence can repeat.

Tie Format – “Race to 41”
Each tie between two teams is played as a continuous relay race to 41 total points.

The relay ends immediately when one team reaches 41 points, regardless of the current segment.
If neither team reaches 41 after completing all five segments, the sequence restarts from Segment 1 and continues in the same order.
When the combined total of both teams’ scores equals 40, teams switch sides.
Referee App Integration
- The referee uses a mobile app to track points in real time.
- The app will:
- Display the active players for the current segment.
- Notify when it’s time to change players.
- Signal when teams must switch sides (at 40 total points).
- Announce when a team reaches 41 to end the relay.
- The app automatically records each team’s final score for that tie and adds it to the overall team total.

If no team reaches 41, restart from Segment 1 with the same order.
Tournament Scoring & Standings
- Each team will play against every other team once.
- There are no win/loss points — the actual points scored in every relay are added cumulatively.
- The team with the highest total cumulative score at the end of all ties is declared the tournament champion.
- In case of a tie in total points, the head-to-head result between the tied teams decides the rank.
