🏓 Team Relay Medley Format – Pickleball Team Tournament

🔸 Team Composition

  • Teams must nominate their player sequence before the start of each tie.
  • Once the sequence is locked, no substitutions or resequencing are allowed during that tie.
  • Every player must feature at least once before the sequence can repeat.

🔸 Tie Format – “Race to 41”

Each tie between two teams is played as a continuous relay race to 41 total points.

Description

1

Doubles

12

First doubles pair plays until the total points on the board = 12

2

Singles

8

Second pair plays until total points = 20

3

4

5

🟢 The relay ends immediately when one team reaches 41 points, regardless of the current segment.
🔄 If neither team reaches 41 after completing all five segments, the sequence restarts from Segment 1 and continues in the same order.
🔁 When the combined total of both teams’ scores equals 40, teams switch sides.

🔸 Referee App Integration

  • The referee uses a mobile app to track points in real time.
  • The app will:
    • Display the active players for the current segment.
    • Notify when it’s time to change players.
    • Signal when teams must switch sides (at 40 total points).
    • Announce when a team reaches 41 to end the relay.
  • The app automatically records each team’s final score for that tie and adds it to the overall team total.

  • In case of a tie in total points, the head-to-head result between the tied teams decides the rank.
